This nosegay is made from squares and diagonal half-squares. - The Starmaker 8 insure accurate half-squares every time. Fabric/Supplies needed:

Step 1: Cut Bias Strips Place the Starmaker 8 squared up with one corner of the fabric. Use a rotary cutter to make the first cut along the long diagonal edge of the Starmaker 8. From the small triangle of fabric, cut 2-3/4" line on the ruler even with the bias edge of the triangle. From bias strip #1 you can get 5 triangles |

| Step 2: Sew Bias Strips Together Sew two bias strips, right sides together, into a tube (sew together on both long edges.) Use the Starmaker 8 to cut the bias tubes into triangles by placing the 4 point of the Starmaker 8 at the top of the strip and cutting on both sides. the second triangle by turning the Starmaker 8 upside down so the 4 point is at the bottom of the strip. Continue cutting until you have the correct number of each of the diagonal half-squares (see below). Open up the triangles (you may have to remove two or three stitches at the point). Press the seam allowances toward the darkest fabric . |

Step 3: Cut Squares Cut a strip of cream 3-1/2" x 15". |

Step 4: Lay out the Squares and Half Squares Sew the pieces together into rows carefully matching seamlines. Press the seam allowances of the rows in opposite directions. (row 1 and 3 to the left; row 2 and 4 to the right.) Step 5: Add Embellishments Add lace, ribbons, old buttons, etc. to make your Victorian Nosegay special. Your nosegay will also make an attractive pillow, or make a Nosegay quilt using different colors in each block. |
