Flying Geese Using the Starmaker 8 Master Template
To easily strip-cut flying geese:

Step1: Cut strips.

Cut a dark and a light strip the same width. One strip will become the background (teal); the other the geese (brown)

Cut with the point of the Starmaker at the top of the strip.

Step 2: Cut the geese.

Cut the geese strip by placing the point of the 4-angle of the Starmaker 8 at the top of the strip and cutting. Cut the second triangle by turning the Starmaker 8 upside-down with the point of the 4-angle at the bottom of the strip.

Step 3: Cut the background.

Cut the background stip into triangles by placing the first line from the 4-angle at the top of the strip and cutting. Cut the second triangle by turning the Starmaker 8 upside-down with the 1st line from the 4-angle at the bottom of the strip.

Match bottom point of geese lines up with bottom of background. Geese triangle lines up with the middle o the flat top of the background triangle.

Step 4: Sew triangles into strips.

Sew a geese triangle to a background triangle, the background triangle on top, and the geese underneath.

Match the triangles where they overlap; see the arrows on the diagram. Chain-sew these two triangles together. Press seam allowances away from geese and toward background triangle.

Chain-sew together these triangle sets, with the same background fabric, to form groups of four triangles; then groups of eight triangles. Geese segments can be cut from this strip (see step 5), and then more triangles can be added to both ends of the strip.

Match at the arrows.

The strip will look like the one above: The seamlines on the points of the geese (brown) will match 1/4" from the top of the strip. The seamlines on the points of the background will meet at the edge of the strip. This will give the seam allowance needed to cut the background triangles to make Flying Geese.
Step 5: Cut flying geese.

Line up the Starmaker 8 with the side of the Starmaker 8 at the top of the strip, 4-angle at the center of the background triangle, and the #1, #2, and #3 lines on the Starmaker parallel to the seamline.

Cut one of the flying geese by cutting the background triangle in half along the side of the Starmaker 8 (see dotted lines). Move the cut-off trinagles from one end of the strip to the other end. Cut more flying geese blocks

Move the cut off end to the other other end of the strip and continue cutting geese.

Step 6: Continue to add and cut more geese and background triangles to the strip as needed.
