Garden Path Wallhanging from the book Easy Hexagon Designs by Kaye Wood

Finished size 32" x 50"

The paths formed by the arrangement of dark and light fabrics take you through
the garden. This quilt would be a pleasure to make in many different colors.

See Yardage Chart Below

Step 1:

Cut a strip of fabric 3" wide.
Fold and press the strip in half lengthwise.
Cut a strip of Static Sticker 1-1/2" x 3".
Place the Starmaker® 6 with the top point at the raw edges of the strip.
Place the Static Sticker™ on the Starmaker® 6 below the strip and with the top of the Static Sticker.

Step 2:

Cut triangles from 2" strips
Place the top point of the Starmaker 6 at the top edge of the triangle strip. This strip is NOT folded. The lines across the Starmaker 6 should be parallel with the bottom of the strip.
Cut on both sides of the Starmaker 6.
Turn the Starmaker 6 upside down to cut the second triangle, with the top point of the
Sticker lined up with the folded edge.
Move the Starmaker® 6 so that the top of the Static Sticker is now at the top of the strip and even with the raw edges and the bottom of the Static Sticker is at the bottom of the strip.
Cut along both sides of the Starmaker® 6.
Unfold the piece and you have a perfect hexagon.
Continue cutting hexagons using the Static Sticker on the Starmaker® 6 as a guide.

Step 3:

Sew the triangles and hexagons into Tri-Hex units.

  • Sew A hexagons to A triangles;
Sew B hexagons to B triangles, etc.

Step 4:

Sew the Tri-Hex units into rows, as shown below. Press the seam allowances. Sew the rows together matching seamlines. Press.
Square up the sides by trimming the Tri-Hex Units at the ends of each row.
