It's a great beginner project! The parasol block can also be used as a quilt block. Fabric and Supplies:
Fabric - 4 different fabrics
|
| Step 1: Cut the wedges
Use the Starmaker 5 to cut the wedges - 4 from each of the 5 strips. Place the line below the 20 on the Starmaker 5 at the top of the strip. Rotary cut on both sides of the Starmaker 5. Turn the Starmaker 5 upside down to cut the second wedge; the line below the 20 should be at the bottom of the strip. Cut each of the 5 strips into 4 wedges. Step 2: Sew the pieces into a circle First sew the pieces into 4 quarter circles; then into a circle. Press seam allowances all in one direction. Use the 12-1/2" x 12-1/2" square ruler to trim the edges. |

Step 3: Cut and sew the circle
Cut a 4-1/2" circle from plastic template material and use it to cut the circle from the fabric. Sew lace to the outside edge of the circle, right sides together. Press the seam allowance of the lace and circle to the wrong side. Fold the circle to find the half; fold again to find quarters. Crease the folds. Place the small circle on top of the larger pieced circle; line up the creases with the seamlines. Topstitch through the lace. |
