I just started a very bright summery table runner with lots of yellows, oranges and bright greens. Nice to work on with snow still on the ground.

My quilt is still in my head. I would love to try an applique landscape from our trip to China. I am still dreaming.

I have begun applique just the last couple of years. I enlarged a sunflower drawing to 3' x 5' and used a turn under edge and machine hem stitch to attach. This work nearly finished for a wall hanging. My Husband scuba dives and I enlarge some of his fish pictures, put them on a wonder-under press on, then satin stitched them onto batik fabric. This is very striking and the batik's are varied enough to stand alone.

I love nature inspired quilts. I am currently taking an art quilting course from Elaine Quehl, in Ottawa, Ontario Canada. She is a master at designing and quilting close ups of beautiful leaves and flowers and I hope to someday be able to do a wallhanging similar to her works.

I have always loved fabrics with the different textures, and grains. My dreams are to someday be an successful fiber artist. I grew up on memories of a large farm I lived on as a young child.I being the youngest of 15. Moving from the country when I was 5,encourages me to create the memories from the past.

I am working on a fall landscape quilt. But...I have been collecting fabrics and books with techniques to make floral garden quilts. I would love to win Jane's book on Gardens. I have to believe that Spring is actually going to arrive.

First of all, I adore Jane Sassaman and her quilts! I recall vividly the first time I saw one of them on the cover of Quilter's Newsletter. I admired the artistry and the patience. In a few months, I will be moving and I'm making small wall quilts for some of my friends. I have already completed two -- one is from the QNM Oct/Nov 2009/No 412; the pattern is CIty Leaves designed by Nancy Rink. While I loved her color choices, I used brighter and more natural colors for my wall hanging and changed up a few other details. I love it and my husband is mad at me for giving it away. The other wall hanging that I've just finished is based on a pattern found in Material Obsession Two and is designed by Sarah Fielke; the pattern is called The Seasons and Sarah's pattern reflected the changing seasons. My own interpretation of her pattern is a little different and personalized for my friend. But it is an absolutely magnificent wall hanging. My next quilt will also be "leaf" based or at least I think it will be. I love the idea of bringing nature into my quilting and I'm quite enjoying the leafy kick that I'm currently on.... Happy day!
