In 1924 President Coolidge gave his support for a national day for fathers. Then in 1966, President Johnson signed a presidential proclamation declaring the 3rd Sunday of June as Father’s Day. But it wasn’t until 1972 however, that President Nixon signed the law, that finally made it a permanent holiday. Roses are the traditional Father’s Day flower with red to be worn for a living father and white if the father has passed away.

What constitutes as a father has changed over the years just like everything else. But to me, any man who makes a difference for the better in your families lives, should be honored. Stepfathers, uncles, brothers, grandfathers or even a special friend, are all people to be considered.
