Take a look at some of the projects inside Kaye Wood's Pieces of 8 Book
Bull's-eye designs with a difference. Kaye has once again created "can't fail" quilting ideas; this time with unusual quilts from layered octagons, using the View & Do Octagon Shape.
Her usual accuracy techniques are used throughout this book. This insures that everything lines up perfectly. Her View & Do Shapes are used to cut and layer the octagons. Background blocks are crease marked, which insures that the perfectly centered layers are also centered on each block. The layers are then held in place with a spray adhesive, which eliminates pinning.

Several different ways of layering are included: centered, on-point and twisted, which is a combination of the centered and on-point techniques. The octagons are finished in the popular Fray Away Applique technique. But, if you follow the variations given on the View & Do DVD, you can finish the octagons by lining them with EZ Under, or facing them with a contrasting fabric. The bull's-eye (layered octagons) blocks can be used as is, or cut into squares or triangles. Projects range from placemats, tablerunners, wall quilts, crib, twin, full and Queen size quilts. As is usual in all of Kaye's books and patterns, every little detail that can help you is shown in detail. That's why her techniques are so widely used in quilt classes nationwide. |
