The View & Do Shapes are great for fussy-cutting. Their white color blocks out the background of the fabric so you can really see just inside the opening of the Shape.

Rotary cut around the outside of the Shape. Here is a great hint: if you want one of the smaller sizes, you can't rotary cut inside the Shape so this is what you do-

When you are using one of the curved Shapes (circles and hearts), it might be easier to trace around the outside of the Shape and cut with scissors, instead of rotary cutting the curves.

Your octagon bull's-eyes have raw edges and will fray with use and washing. The choice of fabric will determine the amount of fray: flannel will fray a lot; cottons less. If the idea of raw edges on your quilt does not appeal to you, there are options for different finishing techniques. Other tips include borders, layering the quilt, bindings and mitered corners. Fussy-cut for the centers of each of the octagons, add log cabin borders on each block, and you have a unique pineapple quilt design. Uses the View & Do™ Octagon, Starmaker® 8 Master Template and Static Stickers (all sold separately). Size: 21" x 21" DVD available of this technique	Each View & Do Shape has 4 nesting sizes: 2", 4", 6" and 8". They are made from a solid white plastic to back out the background when deciding on the fussy-cut positioning of the embroidery design, fabric motif or photograph on fabric. The View & Do Shapes are made to be used with a rotary cutter, which is used on the outside edge. To fussy-cut, you open the window for the size you want. Position the design inside the opening. For the 2", 4" and 6" size, you insert the next smaller size, remove the outside. This will give you an outside edge.

Kaye's Roman Fountains Pattern uses Kaye's View and Do Circles Shapes Click the picture to enlarge Imagine looking down into a formal Roman Garden with its hedges, tile floors, and its center fountain. The circles are layered on top of a background square, cut in square quarters and triangle quarters. The raw edge circles are appliqued with decorative stitches. The beautiful 3 dimensional embroidered and appliqued flowers, available on a disk from Dalco Home Sew, or fabric designs are fussy-cut (centered) inside diamond shapes.
