A great project for charity sewing, these sensory mats have a therapeutic effect fr people with dementia, autism or alzheimers.
The mat has 9 different sensory/activity blocks, each with a different item.
One will be a mesh pocket, one with a zipper, and then choose 7 more items to attach to the other blocks. Buckle, fluffy trim, pom-poms, yo-yo's, lace or anything else you might have on hand.
A clear vinyl pocket could hold a photo.
You could also bind the entire mat with satin blanket trim for comfort, or make colorful scrappy binding.
